My Top 5 Favorite Chris Elliott Roles

Chris Elliot has long been one of my favorite comedic actors. He plays such amazing creepy-funny yet endearing characters. I even got to see him in person once on the Upper West Side, and as opposed to introducing myself, I decided to make some sort of squeek-noise and just walked out of his way :( .

With today being Groundhog’s day (the movie in which he was the charmingly-smug cameraman Larry) and his new role as Eagleheart starting tomorrow night on Adult Swim (yes, technically Friday morning, but that’s pretty half-empty thinking, ya jerk), I decided to do a rundown of my top 5 favorite Chris Elliott roles:

5.) Mickey Aldrin (How I Met Your Mother)

This show is a personal favorite of mine, so I had to include this on the list. Chris plays Lily’s estranged father, Mickey. He’s a board-game creating, tax-evader, yet you still can’t help but feel sorry for the fact that his daughter wants nothing to do with him.

Memorable quote: “Relax, it’s not real bile. It’s just lead-based paint from China. And horse bile.”

4.) Roger the Snowplowman (Snow Day)

The enemy of school children, the evil snow plow driver. He hates children, but loves his pet bird Trudy. His ultimate demise was to think he could outsmart the children in the epic “the bird for the Wayne” swap.

Memorable quote: “The kids really love to toot the horn.”

Later revealed as “Woogie”, Mary’s ex-high school sweetheart, Dom is Ted’s best friend and confidant. He eventually ditches his tv-time-beej giving wife and succumbs to his love for Mary, as his “love blisters” drive him mad enough to steal all of her shoes.

Memorable quote: “You choke the chicken before any big date, don’t you? Tell me you spank the monkey before any big date. Oh my God, he doesn’t flog the dolphin before a big date. Are you crazy? That’s like going out there with a loaded gun!”

2.) Peter MacDougall (Everybody Loves Raymond)

Raymond’s brother-in-law-in-law, the psychologically unstable couch-crasher. He’s lovable and mischievous and utterly bat-shit crazy.

Memorable Quote: “That’s alright, every family has their odd-ball. With us, it’s Mom.”

1.) Hanson (Scary Movie 2)

Hands down, the best character in this movie, the caretaker, Hanson will help out carrying bags to your room and has a hand in everything in the kitchen. My germs!

Memorable Quote: “Did I frighten you child? I’m sorry, are you scared? Alright, I’ll sing to ya. God is in … his holy temple.”

*Yes, several notable roles including Cabin Boy are missing from this list.
